If you are thinking about bankruptcy, facing divorce, or are charged with a crime, call me for a free consultation.
Divorce is also a complicated process, especially if children or significant assets are involved. You need to know your rights and have those rights protected. Once a divorce is final, higher standards have to be met to modify conditions. Also, once you have your divorce decree, you may need to enforce provisions of the order, or modify provisions as conditions change.
Bankruptcy is a legal process to help people in debt get a fresh start while treating their creditors fairly. Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code allows people to discharge many of their debts, keep exempt property, and stop lawsuits and other collection actions.
Chapter 13 enables a person with regular income to repay all or part of their debts, and keep certain property that would have to be liquidated under Chapter 7. The process is complicated and you need a lawyer to do it right.
If you are contacted by police investigating a crime, or are charged with a crime, you need a lawyer. Never talk to police or a prosecutor without a lawyer. They really do mean it when they say “anything you say can be used against you.”
Even seemingly minor misdemeanor convictions will be on your record forever and can have unforeseen consequences in the future. Don’t look back 10 years from now and say “I should have gotten a lawyer.”
It doesn’t cost you anything but a little time to talk to me about any of these situations. I do many types of cases on a flat fee basis so you know what your legal fees will be.
In other situations, I offer payment plans. I try to make legal services available to the average person, and will work with you to accommodate your situation.
